In our own beginnings, we all find ourselves located at a point in time and place that has nothing to do with our own choices, but of the choices off all others. I grew up in central PA. I am blessed to have such a simple start in life. Life for a child in my home area seemed designed to be part of the American Dream. I got the chance to grow up as kid. The forest and fields where my hideouts. A three mile bicycle ride was required to get to the edge of town. t would be a much lengthener ride to pedal myself up to where my elementary school infatuation lived. She lived twelve miles away.
When you live in a place like Lewistown, PA as I did, you are familiar with a number of state parks. Two of my favorite, Poe Valley State Park and it's close cousin, Poe Paddy State Park. Our legend at that time was that Edgar Allan Poe's family owned the original property, on which there was a cabin. No one could say with certainty, but the local lore suggested Edgar made his way to that cabin, and may have written the Raven, or parts of it while staying there. I recall, that there was believed to be the possibility of Poe's writing part of the Tell Tale Heart at the cabin as well. No one seems to know for sure. Logically, when no one knows for sure, it is because it simply isn't true. I would wholeheartedly agree with this logic albeit one exception. We are talking about Edgar Allen Poe. not only the great writer of mystery and suspense., but one whose life was as equally mysterious. How can anyone not like Poe? He has provided all of us with many avenues to travel.
I try and avoid Cliffs Notes. Edgar Allan Poe is considered to be America's first significant literary critic or, at least, the first major writer in America to write seriously about criticism, about the theory of composition, and about the principles of creative art. He was also the first to set down a consistent set of principles about what he thought was acceptable in art and what should be essentially rejected in art.

Virginia Eliza Clemm Poe was the wife of American writer Edgar Allan Poe. The couple were first cousins and publicly married when Virginia Clemm was 13 and Poe was 27. Biographers disagree as to the nature of the couple's relationship.
It's said that the pair attended strangers' funerals, held each other and cried. (Oh, the Poe folklore!) Poe and Clemm decided to marry, but Maria didn't approve of their age difference โ 13 years โ or Poe's financial situation โ he had just been fired from the Southern Literary Messenger for on-duty drunkenness.
